Los Angeles’ garment industry is about 40,000 workers strong and accounts for about 83% of the nation’s cut-and-sew manufacturing, according to a city staff report. The industry is important not just to Southern California’s economy, but also to the fashion industry nationwide. The Fashion District’s network of sewers, designers, dyers and small manufacturing facilities form a human supply chain that has powered Los Angeles’ fashion and creative industry for nearly a century. ![]() The plan should have been built around their needs in the first place. This means we are now working on turning the conceptual designs into preliminary designs for at least 11 bridges across the LA River and several miles of bike path. The project is currently in the environmental clearance and design phase. The Conceptual Design Report was published in 2019. The first phase of the project resulted in a Conceptual Design Report, which offers insight into the scope of the project, its benefits to society and contains an outline of the various options regarding bike path route and design.
